Wildlife Protection!
Our rescue currently has 3 high-tech 4G pan, tilt and zoom CCTV cameras which we can deploy in areas where there is a concern for the safety of wildlife, or where there is a need for conservation studies. These cameras can be powered by a standard UK mains plug, but in remote areas where this is not possible, we use a long life battery pack which can be charged using solar power!
These cameras are linked straight back to our rescue where we’re able to review footage and report any wildlife crimes where appropriate.
Some examples of what we’ve deployed these cameras for:
Swan nest protection
Checking for badger activity
Wildlife Crime Reports
Getting evidence of foxes with mange needing treatment
Recent deployment 08/09/2023:
CADNET who are ‘the largest natural gas distribution network in the United Kingdom’ contacted us when they discovered what they suspected to be a badger sett entrance during gas work in Lincolnshire/Humberside. Our rescue has volunteers who are also committee members for the Lincolnshire Badger Group (Affiliated with The Badger Trust) so visited the site on their behalf and have since deployed one of our cameras to capture footage of any activity in the area. CADNET have also contacted Natural England to make them aware and our team have passed on all the details to our local Wildlife Crimes Officer to let them know of the monitoring plan.
Cadnet have also stopped works in this section while this is being completed.
