If I’m healthy enough for a school visit, I’m healthy enough to be wild again!
Rescues, including ours, get countless requests every year for us to do talks at schools and local groups… This is often followed with “could you bring an animal with you”, sadly this is not possible… but for a few very good reasons:
We rescue wild animals, and being taken to school visits and talks is a terrifying experience for wild animals… It can even be detrimental to their recovery in a rescue!
It’s not safe for both humans and animals, you can never truly know their next move, especially with larger wildlife.
If they’re healthy enough for a school visit, they’re healthy enough to be released back home in the wild, where they belong.
For this reason, many rescues including ours, choose to not take bookings for talks, which allows us more time to focus on caring for the animals in our care… however, we do believe that learning about British Wildlife is important to the survival of many Great British Species, including hedgehogs (one of the most requested)!
We’re planning on creating activity packs and educational material which you be able to download for FREE from our website. These activity packs will be cross-checked by various specialist rescues to ensure the highest quality educational materials and will be available to download HERE as soon as completed.
