Cleethorpes Wildlife Rescue

Volunteer with us!

Volunteering!

Being a wildlife volunteer is a rewarding and well-respected role within the local community. Our rescue strides for the highest of standards when it comes to ethical wildlife welfare, and therefore all of our volunteers start as collection volunteers and work their way up to trained wildlife rescuers.

What are the requirements?

As all of our volunteers start as collection volunteers and work their way up to rescue volunteers, our requirements for entry are based on the entry role, which are:

  • You must be over the age of 18.

  • You must hold a full driving license.

  • You must have your own vehicle suitable to collect injured wildlife.

When can I apply?

We accept new applicants around the end of September-October annually, with training starting in November-December.

When applications open, there will be an application box here:

  • Collection volunteers do not undertake physical rescues and only handle wild birds. Their role is to collect an already contained bird and bring them to a foster volunteer or vet in their own vehicle.

  • We take new applications around October time as this is outside of 'peak season'. This gives us time to give you the proper training ahead of the next busy season. By doing so, you will be well prepared for the summer period.

  • All of our volunteers start as collection volunteers, then work their way up to rescuers once they've passed all necessary training.

    This takes roughly 3–6 months.

  • Equipment needed for your role, such as PPE, transport boxes, etc, will all be provided to you.

    All you will need is:
    To be over 18
    Have a full driving license.
Access to a vehicle suitable for animal transport.
