Role: Wildlife Rehabilitation Volunteer - Role from home (Foster Volunteer)
Short description: Become a rehabilitation volunteer from home by joining our foster volunteer network!
Minimum starter dedication: 4-6 weeks of entry coursework & training, in-person and online practical sessions with a final assessment and quiz at the end of the course.
Foster system traffic light system:
RED: New foster volunteers, start with easy birds. - (feeder uppers)
AMBER: Red volunteers who have developed their skills. They can take slightly more difficult cases. (Including medicating and managing minor wounds).
GREEN: Volunteers who can act as managers for red and amber volunteers, they also take on more advanced cases and have direct links to our vets.
How it works: Sign up and if your application is successful, we will invite you to the first welcome and training session. Once you complete our 4-6 week training, you’ll be a RED fosterer and ready to work your way to the top!
Requirements for the role:
A safe area for a wildlife causality, this should be an unused room which can be a dedicated wildlife room or aviary with no access by pets) - This will be checked by a GREEN volunteer for suitability.
TIME - Wildlife rescue, even within a small capacity is a BIG commitment, you need to have a good amount of spare time.
A good level of hygiene
Due to the nature of the role, you must be over 18 years old.
Role: Wildlife Collection Volunteer
Short description: Join our WhatsApp group to be a lifesaver and collect injured wildlife from finders and bring them to our volunteers and vets.
Minimum dedication: None, as and when you can with transport!
If you have a successful application, you’ll be invited to do your mandatory minimum training and welcome meeting, this includes basic safety for you and others. Once you’ve passed this training you’ll be added to our WhatsApp Group!
How it works: Members of the public call our team who will triage the wildlife causality -> If transport is required, they will post a request in the group chat with the location and the volunteer or vet practice it needs to be taken to -> Whoever answers the request will be provided the full details.
Requirements for the role:
UK Driving License
Own or access to a vehicle for collection
Availability to attend training
